Distortions in Brain Architecture Induced by Tumor Tissue:
Probability Maps for Major Sulci in Both Hemispheres.
Color-coded probability maps quantify the impact of two focal metastatic tumors (illustrated in red) on the supracallosal, parieto-occipital, and anterior and posterior calcarine sulci in both hemispheres.
The animation shows a time-varying linear blend of:
(1) the anatomic configuration of the brain tumor patient, with
(2) the average anatomic representation for a group of normal
subjects.
Probability maps indicate the severity of structural abnormality in intermediate surfaces (red colors: abnormal; blue colors: normal), relative to an encoding of normal anatomic variability.
